What do you believe in?

Believe in NashvilleIf you are not a fan of hockey, then you probably do not realize what the Nashville Predators did in the first round of the playoffs.

This was supposed to be the year that Nashville really made a run at the Stanley Cup, the ultimate prize in the National Hockey League.  However, they underperformed throughout the regular season and did not clinch a playoff spot until late in the year.

Most people in Nashville were disappointed when the Predators were matched against the Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs. They felt like the Preds would be easily defeated like they were twice before.

Chicago isn’t any ordinary hockey team and here’s what makes the victory so amazing.

  • Chicago was a number one seed and a favorite to win the championship.
  • Nashville was a number eight seed.
  • The Blackhawks are the NHL’s version of the New England Patriots, a winning dynasty.
  • Chicago had won three championships in the last seven years.
  • Almost no one predicted the Predators to win this series.
  • The Blackhawks have not been swept in a playoff series since 1993.
  • Nashville Goaltender Pekka Rinne stopped 123 of 126 shots, 97.6% over four games.
  • A #1 seed in the NHL or NBA has never blown a series in four games.
  • Nashville has never been past the second round of the playoffs.

This is a shock that the world of hockey hasn’t seen in years.

When asked about the victory, team captain Mike Fisher said, “"It might have surprised a lot of people, but probably not ourselves. We believed we could beat that team. I don't think hardly anyone else did, but that didn't matter.”

And rising star Colton Sissons said, "We're a pretty serious hockey club. We all believed in here heading into (the) playoffs this year that we could beat the Chicago Blackhawks. That's all that really matters is the belief in our locker room.”

The magic behind this amazing victory was their belief in themselves.  And without this conviction, they would be the ones with a finished season.

Buyers in Nashville these days feel a lot like the Predators fans facing the Blackhawks.  The competition is too tough for them to have success in this market.

As your real estate coach, I believe in you because I help others claim victory every day in Nashville.  I know you can do it too, if you only have faith in yourself.

If you are fan of the Predators, I’d love to hear from you today.  Tell me what this victory means to you.
