Three chords and the truth

Three chords and the truthHarlan Howard is one of the unsung heroes of Nashville.

Most people outside of the music business have never heard his name, yet nearly everyone has heard his music.

Harlan wrote four thousand songs in his more than 50 year career as a songwriter.  In 1961, he had 15 songs on the charts at the same time.

Some of the folks that recorded his songs include: Johnny Cash, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Ray Charles, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakum, The Judds, and Patty Loveless.

Locally, Harlan was known as the “Dean of Country Songwriters.”  You might think that he got this name from his prolific career as a songwriter.

But that’s not the case.

He earned his nickname due his love for teaching and encouraging the generation of songwriters that followed him.

As a raconteur, Howard had that unique ability to be able to spin an amusing tale and explain difficult concepts in a simple way.

When asked how to write an authentic song, Harlan replied, “Country Music is three chords and the truth.”

If you can’t tell, Harlan is one of my heroes.

And like him, I want to be able to teach you about real estate in Nashville in a clear and entertaining way.

Due to the number of people involved in a transaction and the number of hoops that you have to jump through, real estate has become complex and confusing.

The paperwork involved is enough to make folks either run the other direction or stick their heads in the sand.

And most of us can’t afford to do that.  There is just too much at stake.

This is one of the reasons why I write to you every weekday.  There is so much to learn and in order to have success, you need a jump start on your competition.

And if I can make you smile in the process, it’s even better.

I’d like to know that one thing on your mind about real estate, that’s be bothering you lately.

That question you haven’t yet answered.

Or, that concern where the solution is not easy to see.

Hit reply, and I’ll give you my best.  And I won’t give up until it sounds like three chords and the truth.
