This Neighborhood's growth is beating expectations

This Nashville neighborhood beat expectationsThe Tennessean recently wrote an article about “The Nations”, a neighborhood in West Nashville.

Here’s a link to the story:

It was not long ago that this neighborhood was trying to re-invent itself and even rebrand.  There was an attempt to change the name of the neighborhood to “Historic West Nashville,” and it did not stick.

Fast forward a few years and you will see that these dreams of a revived and vibrant neighborhood have come true.

And way beyond the expectations of many of the business owners who opened shop here.

Here’s what Lee Ann Merrick, owner of Tinwings, said about her store opening two and a half years ago.

“To be quite honest, I thought it would five to 10 years before the neighborhood would be able to support what we were doing,” Merrick said. “I was quite frankly concerned our customers wouldn’t come over here. I didn’t feel comfortable being here myself unless the store was closed. (Six months later), it was already different.”

Nathan Lyons, a developer with Vintage South Development, bought the former Belle Meade Hosiery on the corner of 51st and Centennial.  Here’s what he said.

“When I did buy the building, I didn’t know it would develop or evolve into what we have today, but I just felt there was an opportunity there on a major corner and the mill itself was in great condition for the age it was,” Lyons said.

Many homebuyers today are looking for neighborhoods where they can live, shop and be entertained.

And that’s the secret to The Nations amazing growth.  In addition to all of the homes being built, more than a dozen new business have moved into the heart of neighborhood over the last few years.  And that does not include all of the growth on that portion of Charlotte Pike.

If you are wondering where the next hot neighborhood will be in Nashville, just look where the next set of urban pioneers are building and opening shop.

The Daily Deal in Nashville is a beautiful, newer home in Lennox Village that is currently listed for less than $300,000.
