Imagine the Possibilities in Nashville 2015

I always like to write the date on the first day of a new year.  I’m not certain how different this one day is from the day before.  The minutes flow as they always have and as they always will, but there is definite significance in the second between 11:59:59pm on December 31, 2014 and 12:00:00am on January 1, 2015.  A new year seems to bring with it possibilities which did not seem apparent in the old year.  As we look forward, we make resolutions or resolves or, as I like to refer to them, intentions, for ourselves as we take that giant, one second leap into the future.  I’ll share the intentions I wrote this morning in the order in which I wrote them.  I am not sure of the significance of the order yet – if there is any, it remains to be revealed, but I intend to pay attention to this, if nothing then just out of curiosity.

As always, continue exercise – yoga, running, walking.  Try classes at other yoga studios occasionally.  Add a Thai massage or a body massage

Freshen up the diet.  More citrus, salads, veggies and lean meats

Write daily

Listen more – speak less

Practice thankfulness

Allow discomfort


Be goodness – see goodness – seek goodness

Patience – it is a virtue

Take some new risks

That’s it folks!  Those are my intentions for this year – duly recorded in my journal and now, for those who care to, to read and maybe hold me accountable. 

January pulls us into the mid-winter blues at times.   Be sure to get out in whatever sunlight you may be able to find.  I know I welcomed the return of the Prodigal Sun yesterday, hoping she would hang around, but, alas, she has disappeared again maybe not to return until the Spring Equinox!  Take your vitamin C and D, wash your hands often and try not to touch your face and nose to avoid the flu,  exercise and eat right and just hold on tight, noticing that we are adding one second of daylight to each day!

Here are a few fun things you can do in January to keep entertained:

The Ryman has wonderful cultural opportunities – Opry at the Ryman on January 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th.  Dancing With The Stars!  How fun would that be on January 6th!  And the amazing Gregg Allmann will be performing on Wednesday, January 13th and Thursday January 14th at 7:30.

Kenny Rogers will be performing for three nights at The Schermerhorn Symphony Center – Thursday, January 15th at 7:00, Friday and Saturday, January 16th and 17th at 8:00. 

If you are a sports fan you can take in a Predators game on Tuesday, January 6th, Thursday, January 8th, Friday, January 16th or Tuesday, January 27th.

These are just a few of the activities I am highlighting from a website – – and there are many other smaller venues with musical entertainment to take in.
