Do You Want to Live in A Pay it Forward Kind of Town
I must admit that I am somewhat of a geek who loves four wheel drive vehicles.
I also love to drive in the snow. I guess that happens when you only see a significant accumulation every ten years or so. You know that I had a lot of fun this weekend.
So, when I learned that a group of Nashvillians were combing technology and Jeeps to help others in the snow storm, I had to check it out.
The group, Jeeps and Wrenches Rescue, was started about one year ago by a group of off-road enthusiasts who wanted to give back to their community at no charge.
The group offers two important services. First, they help medical personnel, emergency responders and service workers get to their jobs during inclement weather. Second, they also help everyday people get their vehicles out of the ditch during snow and ice storms.
Not too long ago this group had about 100 members.
After Snowzilla, the total is up to 2,444 members and rising.
They say the club was founded on Paying it Forward. They started by helping each other work on their vehicles and the idea took a life of its own.
Instead of donations, the club asks the people that they help to Pay it Forward too.
Little things like:
-Give a coat to a homeless guy
- Buy dinner for someone
- Help an elderly couple
- Offer directions to someone who looks lost
Even little things make a big difference when you put them all together.
This group is amazing.
It’s even spurred other Jeep Clubs across Middle Tennessee to do the same thing.
This is a great example of why I love to live here and why I am proud to call Nashville home.
It’s a “Pay it Forward” kind of town filled with awesome people.
Hit reply, if you want to learn more about Nashville. I’d love to tell you about it.
