Nashville, Are You Ready for some Football?

As I was browsing through facebook this week, I was met with all the “end of summer” posts by parents whose children are returning to school after the summer break. My first reaction is to say, SUMMER IS NOT OVER, FOLKS!!!!!! It is early August and there is still PLENTY OF SUMMER LEFT!!!! I believe that the official end of summer is September 22. Now I do understand that summer BREAK is over for our school children and our school teachers, but for those of us who do not plan our life around the school calendar, rest assured that there are plenty of hot, humid, sunny days left on the horizon.

For more information about our great public schools the website is:

What is also on the horizon, with the start of school and the coming of fall, is…….say it with me…….FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!!!!! There are only 16 days until high school prep football begins, about one month till the opening kick offs for our college teams, and our pro team – The Tennessee Titans, begin their pre-season games on August 14th – yes, you heard me ,August 14th  - against the Falcons. Oh happy day! Whether your blood runs orange and white, black and gold, blue and gray, green and white – whatever your school colors are – the game is on and the wait is almost over! Life is good again.

For the most up to date prep, college and pro football scores, schedules and news check out these different websites and blogs:

And this blog by a great friend of mine – Mike Strasinger

This website/blog promotes local sports with an emphasis on high school athletics and, as Mike is a professional photographer, you are bound to see some fabulous photos in addition to the most current news on the sports front.

Be sure to give yourself more time to get to work, watch carefully for our school children at their bus stops and school crossings, turn off your cell phones and pay attention! School is back in session!

And in totally unrelated news, but with much gratitude – Steve and Gretchen Jolly have just sold our Mother’s home. They took such great care of us during the entire process, answering any questions and offering their personal services way above and beyond the call of duty. They walked us through the entire process, including information about services to “spruce up” her home, recommendations on things we could do to make it more marketable, and even offering to help us clean out the attic!  If you are looking to sell or to buy, I would highly recommend Benchmark Realty and Steve and Gretchen Jolly. Thanks, Steve and Gretchen!
